This is Zak. I went to the Artist’s reception for the 4th Annual Sandy Art Show, Virgil was unable to attend. He won best in show. There was a loud sigh of dismay from the large crowd when they realized he was not there to receive his award. They really wanted to cheer him! Ortho Fairbanks was one of the judges, it was neat to meet him. Here’s a couple of photos:

Sculpting At Deseret Book’s New Downtown Store

Virgil and I spent a few hours at the new Deseret Book flagship store in downtown Salt Lake City, UT. His daughter posed for him, in return for a really fat cinnamon roll and a drink! Here are some photos of the occaision.

Thanksgiving Point Plein Air Quick Draw (or Sculpt) 2010

Virgil was the only sculptor to ever enter this event, as an hour and a half is not much time to go from bare armature to finished portrait. He sculpted Thanksgiving Point CEO Mike Washburn’s son Brien. What a great guy, Brien, to sit in the hot sun for over an hour. Virgil and I got to know him a little, very likable young man! Here’s some photos of Virgil and the process, as well as our good friend Sarah Samuelson and the progress of her entry in the quick draw.

Sculpting at Deseret Book!
